The graduate certificate in Urban Food Systems is a 12-credit certificate that can lead to a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications (ALEC). The four courses that comprise the certificate are designed to provide learning opportunities in agricultural enterprise planning and production in an urban environment. The certificate complements the ALEC MS by combining the practical skills needed in urban agriculture with the leadership, educational planning, program evaluation, community organizing, and communications needed by professionals to lead Extension or community initiatives in urban food systems.
