This course requires an extensive investigation into a topic agreed upon by the student and instructor. The student will produce a research design and complete bibliography under the direction of the instructor. Students will also take their comprehensive exams as a part of this course for completion of their master’s degree. Required of students in the Dual Credit Instructor of US Government and History. GDRS 500 - Gender Theory
Hours: 3
This course is an interdisciplinary introduction to a variety of theoretical approaches to gender and sexuality studies, including feminist theories and queer theories. It explores feminist ideas and debates concerning the intersection of race, class, gender, and sexuality. This course provides the methodological framework for further work in Gender Studies by introducing students to the ways in which gender scholars utilize theory to systematically analyze how the world works and how gender and sexuality impact and are impacted by political, social, and economic social structures in the United States and globally.
