Social Work MSW

The Master of Social Work program at Texas A&M University-Commerce is designed to meet the educational needs of advanced level social workers. The program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work education (CSWE). All MSW graduates are eligible to sit for the State of Texas LMSW licensure testing. The program follows an advanced generalist practice model. Courses in the MSW program are offered days and evenings at the Main Campus in Commerce; Mesquite Metroplex Campus and Collin Higher Education Center.

Degree Requirements

  1. A 3.0 graduate GPA (including a B or better in field courses).
  2. A passing score on the Social Work Comprehensive Examination.
  3. Submission of a Graduation Application to the Registrar’s Office by the deadline published each semester in the Schedule of Classes.

Foundation Courses (24 semester hours)
Students who enter the program without a CSWE-accredited BSW must complete all foundation courses prior to enrolling in concentration courses. The social work elective can be taken at anytime.
